  • 1. 6 sc = 2"; 6 sc rows = 2"
  • Bow Strips
  • 1. Note: Make four print, two blue, and two green strips.
  • 2. With A, ch 16.
  • 3. Row 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1, turn. -15 sc.
  • 4. Rows 2-94: Sc in first 4 sc, ch 7, sk next 7 sc, sc in last 4 sc, ch 1, turn. -8 sc, 7 ch sts.
  • 5. Row 95: Sc in each sc and ch st across. Fasten off. -15 sc.
  • 6. Make scallops.
  • 7. Row 1: At end of Row 95, do not turn. Attach yarn with sl st in 4th st in from righthand side of Row 95, sk next 3 sts, 11 trc in next st, sk next 4 sts, sl st in next st leaving last 2 sts unworked, ch 4, turn.
  • 8. Row 2: Trc in very first st, trc in next 3 trc, 2 trc in next 3 trc, trc in last 5 trc, sk next 2 sts, sl st in last st, fasten off. With yarn needle, tack top of ch-4 of Row 1 of scallop to very end of Row 95 so it lies flat against row. Attach yarn with sl st in 4th st in from righthand side of Row 1 with right side facing. Rep Rows 1-2 of scallop. Using yarn needle, whipstitch flat sides of scallops to top of Row 95 or Row 1 (on other end) so there's no gap between scallop and end of strip. Work whipstitch on wrong side of blanket to conceal.
  • 9. Make bows.
  • 10. With length of yarn and yarn needle, pull ch sts together at center in groups of four, wrapping yarn four times around chains. Pull tight to make bow; weave needle through wrapping on back side to secure. Weave yarn through sc sts and across ch sts of first ch of next ch-4 grouping until reach center. Rep process of wrapping yarn around center; work needle and yarn down to center of first ch of next group.

With A and RS of scallop facing, join with sl st in first trc of 2nd trc-2 group of scallop of any A strip (ch 4, sk next st, sl st in next st) 4 times, ch 4; working in ends of rows, sl st between Row 1 and 2, (ch 4, sk next 2 rows, sl st between last sk row and next row) down side of strip ending with -sl st between Row 93 and 94, ch 4, sk Row 94 and 95, sl st in first trc of scallop (ch 4, sk next trc, sl st in next trc) 7 times, ch 4, sk last trc, sl st between last trc and end of Row 95 (ch 4, sk next 2 rows, sl st between last row skipped and next row), up second side of strip ending with -ch 4, sl st between Row 1 and first trc of scallop (ch 4, sk next trc, sl st in next trc) 4 times, join to first sl st. Fasten off.
  • 3. Position remaining strips with right sides up from left to right: B, A, C, A, B, A, C. Join together as follows: A with sl st in first trc of second trc-2 group of scallop (ch 4, sk next st, sl st in next st) 4 times, ch 2, sl st in first ch-4 lp going down side of previous strip, *ch 2, sl st in corresponding st on strip attaching (making sure sl sts line up with sl sts on previous strip and rows are aligned), ch 2, sl st in next ch-4 lp of previous strip, rep from * down first side of strip until reach ch-4 lp of scallop of previous strip (this lp is left free) and working around scallop of strip attaching, ch 2, sl st in first trc of scallop of strip attaching (ch 4, sk next trc, sl st in next trc) 7 times, ch 4, sk last trc, sl st between last trc and end of Row 95 (ch 4, sk next 2 rows, sl st between last row skipped and next row), up second side of strip ending with -ch 4, sl st between Row 1 and first trc of scallop (ch 4, sk next trc, sl st in next trc) 4 times, join to first sl st. Fasten off.
  • 4. Rep Step 2 for remaining 6 strips, attaching left side of new strip to previous strip. Weave in ends. Press lightly.
