Bird’s Nest Wreath

This simple spring wreath features mama birdie and a nest full of eggs.

Materials

  • Dow STYROFOAM Brand Foam Block, 2”x12”x18”
  • Bird, nest, and eggs
  • Branches
  • Assorted moss
  • Patterned papers
  • Homespun yarn
  • Burlap ribbon

Tools

  • Dow StyroCutter Plus
  • Adhesives: low-temp glue gun and sticks, liquid glue

Basic Supplies

  • scissors, sharp pencil, scrap paper or newspaper, ruler, straight pins
  • 1. Draw 11"x15" oval on scrap paper or newspaper for pattern. Draw smaller oval inside first. Cut out pattern; pin to foam block. Trace pattern onto foam using sharp pencil. Cut out ovals using StyroCutter Plus creating wreath shape.
  • 2. Warp yarn around top of wreath; adhere ends with pin and liquid glue.
  • 3. Wrap bottom with burlap ribbon. Use glue gun to secure ends in place on back.
  • 4. Use glue gun to adhere moss and several branches to bottom of wreath.
  • 5. Cut paper feathers from patterned papers and use glue gun to adhere to moss and branches.
  • 6. Adhere a small branch to top; adhere bird to branch.
  • 7. Position nest on top of moss and branches; adhere. Adhere eggs inside nest.
