Crochet and gift this cheery bluebird bookmark to a book-loving friend as a unique way to send wishes of happiness their way.

Materials

  • Crochet thread, size 10: blue, 50 yds.; rose, 35 yds.; small amount: yellow; pastel variegated
  • Pink ribbon, 1-1/2”, 24”

  • Bluebird Wing
  • 1. Row 1: Ch 2, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Ch 1, turn. (2)
  • 2. Row 2: 2 sc in each sc. Ch 1, turn. (4)
  • 3. Rows 3-4: 2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. (5, 6)
  • 4. Rows 5-6: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. (6)
  • 5. Row 7: Sc first 2 sc tog, sc in each of next 2 sc, sc last 2 sc tog. Ch 1, turn. (4)

  • Flower
  • 1. With two strands pastel variegated thread held tog and Size 1 hook, ch 3, join to form ring. Ch 1, in ring work (2 hdc, ch 1, sl st) for one petal. Ch 1, in ring work (2 hdc, ch 1, sl st) 4 times for five total petals. Fasten off. With yellow, make French knot in center of flower. Fasten off.
  • Finishing
  • 1. Follow manufacturer's instructions to stiffen bluebird bodies. Lay flat to dry. (Note: Do not stiffen belly or wing pieces.) Cut ribbon into two 12" lengths, cutting angle in one end and point in remaining end to prevent fraying. Spot glue ribbon lengths together. Use photo as guide to adhere bellies to bodies. (Note: Make sure two bodies are facing one direction and two in opposite direction before adhering.) Adhere wing to body. Paint eyes black; let dry. Adhere bluebirds and flower to ribbon as shown.
