A lighthouse and sailboat will surely bring the ocean to mind as you snuggle under this throw, inspired by love of the cool blue sea.

  • Layout and Finishing
  • 1. Attach sailboats to yellow rectangles and lighthouses to blue rectangles, making sure they are centered using yarn needle and running stitch. (Note: Use small amount of fabric glue first to hold pieces in place as noted in tip.) Use photo as guide for placement of pieces. Overlap lighthouse roof slightly over yellow area, making sure rectangles are facing right direction with Row 24 at top.
  • 2. Press lightly with warm steam iron, placing double thickness of cloth between iron and throw. Block rectangles to shape and allow to dry.
  • 3. Lay out throw from top to bottom and left to right as follows: Row 1: Blue, Yellow, Blue, Yellow; Row 2: Yellow, Blue, Yellow, Blue; Row 3: Blue, Yellow, Blue, Yellow
  • 4. Join rectangles together with whipstitch using yarn needle and white yarn, picking up back sts only.
  • Border
  • 1. Rnd 1: With White and H hook, join with sc in center sc of any 3-sc group of corner of any rectangle, 2 sc in same sc, sc evenly all the way around throw working 3 sc in each corner, join with sl st to first sc, fasten off.
  • 2. Rnd 2: With Warm brown and K hook, join with sc where you just fastened off and working from left to right, reverse sc in each sc all the way around throw, join with sl st to first sc, fasten off, weave in ends.
