Crocheted Pumpkin Patch Necklace

  • DMC #5 Pearl Cotton Fall Harvest Variations (4122)
  • Susan Bates Plastic Bone Rings, 1”, two
  • Orange embroidery floss
  • Seed beads, size 8/0: gold, 110; pale yellow, 168
  • Plastic button with shank, 3/4”
  • Sewing thread


  • Crochet hook, size C (2.75mm)
  • Tapestry needle, #20
  • Beading needle
  • Embroidery scissors

Basic Supplies

  • ruler or measuring tape


ch: chain
rep: repeat
sc: single crochet
sl st: slip stitch

  • 1. Wind orange embroidery floss into ball. Cut 4" piece of sewing thread. Thread beading needle with sewing thread and knot ends together to form loop. Place end of orange embroidery floss through sewing thread loop. Using beading needle, thread 60 pale yellow beads onto orange embroidery floss.
  • 2. Form slip knot, slide bead down to slip knot, sc around ring. *Slide next bead down next to hook and sc around ring.* Rep from * to * for half of ring for total of 15 sc. Sl st around second ring to join to first ring. Rep from * to * for entire second ring for total of 28 sc. Sl st around first ring. Rep from * to * for another 15 sc. Join to first sc with sl st and fasten off. Use tapestry needle to sew in ends.
  • 3. Wind pearl cotton into ball. Make slip knot leaving 2" tail and ch 6. Join with sl st to form ring. 14 sc into ring. Sl st to first sc and fasten off leaving 2" tail. Sew ring to top of pumpkin charm made with bone rings. Sew in all ends.
  • 4. Place end of pearl cotton through loop of thread on beading needle. Thread 110 beads, alternating between pale yellow and gold. Thread on button and return to threading another 110 beads.
  • 5. Make slip knot. *Move bead next to hook and ch 1*. Rep from * to * for total of 110 ch.
  • 6. Chain 10 without beads. Slide button close to hook, sl st last ch to first of ch without bead to form loop that holds button in place. *Move bead next to hook and ch 1.* Rep from * to * for total of 110 ch.
  • 7. Ch 10. Join with sl st to form ring. Work 30 sc into ring. Sl st last sc to first sc in ring and fasten off. Sew in all ends.
  • 8. Using loop end of chain, thread through eye of loop on pumpkin charm. Pull until charm is centered.
