  • Embroidery floss: DMC 6-strand, Gentle Art Sampler

Basic Supplies

  • scissors, embroidery needle, q-snap (optional)

Stitch Types

Cross-stitch: 2 strands
French knots: 2 strands (wrapped 1 or 2 times)
Backstitch: 1 or 2 strands

Pattern - Mrs. Claus' Tea Room

  • 1. Cross-stitch design centered on fabric over two threads using two strands of floss.
  • 2. In top border, backstitch snowflakes using two strands of DMC 1 White and wreath using one strand of DMC 319 Pistachio Green-VY DK. Complete French knots use two strands of DMC 321 Christmas Red wrapped one time.
  • 3. In side borders, backstitch bulbs using one strand of DMC 310 Black and connecting strands between bulbs using two strands of DMC 310 Black.
  • 4. In bottom designs, backstitch hot chocolate jar using two strands of DMC 321 Christmas Red. Stitch accents and long stitches on cup using two strands of DMC 1 White. Stitch steam with half-stitches using two strands of DMC 318 Steel Grey-LT. Backstitch gingerbread house, candy canes, and house sides with one strand DMC 319 Pistachio Green-VY DK and DMC 321 Christmas Red. Backstitch top roof slices with one strand of DMC 319 Pistachio Green-VY DK, DMC 321 Christmas Red, or DMC 725 Topaz as indicated on chart. Stitch inner white accents on fruit slices using two strands of DMC 1 White.
  • 5. In center block, backstitch "Mrs. Claus' Tea Room" using one strand DMC 321 Christmas Red and "Menu" using one strand DMC 312 Baby Blue-VY DK. Backstitch first letter of each menu item using single strand and remaining letters using two strands DMC 319 Pistachio Green-VY DK. Complete French knots on lettering wrapping two times. Knot and clip thread ends.
  • 6. Mat and frame as desired.
