Embroidered Tea Towel

Materials

  • EMBROIDERED TEA TOWEL:
  • Flour sack tea towel
  • TEA TOWEL PAPER WRAP:
  • Flour sack tea towel
  • Cardstock: Super Smooth White (Prism Papers); Kraft, Almost Amethyst (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Striped wide ribbon (May Arts)

Tools

  • EMBROIDERED TEA TOWEL:
  • Assorted colors of embroidery floss
  • Aqua Adirondack dye ink (Ranger)
  • Heart Warmers stamp set by Kim Hughes (Cornish Heritage Farms)
  • TEA TOWEL PAPER WRAP:
  • Kim Hughes rubber stamp sets (Cornish Heritage Farms): Christmas Cheer; Sweet Thang
  • Inks: Espresso Adirondack dye ink (Ranger): White Versamagic Chalk Ink (Tsukineko)
  • Scallop-edge scissors
  • Dot N Roller Adhesive (Kokuyo)
  • Embroidered Tea Towel
  • 1. Wash and dry tea towel without fabric softener. Press flat.
  • 2. Use Aqua ink to stamp images onto tea towel. (Note: Choose larger images with less detail for a more polished look.) Use four strands of embroidery floss in desired colors to straight stitch stamped designs. Press.
  • Tea Towel Paper Wrap
  • 1. Cut 3"x11" and 3"x6" strips from Almost Amethyst cardstock. Use White ink to randomly stamp both strips and Espresso ink to stamp sentiment along top and bottom edges. Score longer strip at 2", 2-1/2", 8-1/2", 9". Fold along scored lines. Adhere 3"x6" strip to one end.
  • 2. Cut two 1/2"x6" strips from Kraft cardstock; scallop one edge of each strip. Attach scalloped strips to 6" front panel of folded amethyst band. Fold tea towel to 6"-wide and adhere cardstock band around middle of towel. Tie ribbon around band.

  • 1. Simply wrap folded tea towel with ribbon and attach stamped tags as shown.
