  • 3. Brush glue to entire back of design to secure threads; let dry.
  • 4. Cut around punch needle circle 1/2" from edge. Make cuts into fabric around edge of punch needle about 1/4" apart. Glue fabric around edge of punch needle to back so fabric doesn't show.
  • 5. For bag, cut the following rectangles from red felt: two 5"x7" (front and back); two 3"x7" (sides); one 3"x5" (bottom). Glue punch needle design to upper area of bag front, centering it from side to side.

Sew bottom rectangle to bottom of front, back, and sides, sewing one side at a time and leaving 1/8" at corners unstitched.
  • 7. Cut 1"x9" red felt strip. Sew around strip, 1/8" from edges. Sew green buttons to handle ends to attach it to top sides of bag.
  • 8. For tag, print "dog-gone sweet" on lavender card stock. Cut heart shape around words. Punch hole in top of tag; attach eyelet. Use safety pin to attach tag to handle.

  • Punch Needle Instructions
  • 1. The floss is punched through the fabric between the woven threads. The weave of the fabric holds the floss to form a loop. Needle is threaded with three strands of embroidery floss, using threader. Set loop length at 3. Transfer design to fabric. Place fabric in hoop (fabric should be taut). Needle is punched in and out fabric with stitches placed close together. Outline design first, then fill in. When done, cut floss close to fabric.
