  • 2. Backstitch design as follows using three strands of floss: outline of leaves 3348 Yellow Green-LT; branch, stems, and leaf vein 3346 Hunter Green; lettering 815 Garnet-MD; acorn bottom 3827 Pale Golden Brown; eyelids and claws 3371 Black Brown; owl feathers and beak 972 Deep Canary; bottom of eyes 775 Baby Blue-VY LT; owl outline and acorn tops 975 Golden Brown-DK. Complete French knot for dot on "i" using two strands of 815 Garnet-MD wrapped two times.
  • 3. Position fabric in embroidery hoop. Sew gathering stitch at edge of fabric on back side of hoop, making sure fabric is taut. Pull thread to tighten and draw edges toward center of work.
  • 4. Cut circle from tan felt slightly smaller than 10" hoop. Adhere to back of hoop to cover stitching.
