  • 9”x9” Cashmere 28-count Country French Linen (Wichelt Imports, Inc.)
  • 6-strand Embroidery Floss (DMC)
  • #4 Braid (014, 023, 024, 3228) (Kreinik Mfg. Co., Inc.)
  • Mill Hill Petite Glass Seed Bead (40557) (Wichelt Imports, Inc.)
  • Small Gold Star (3341S) (Just Another Bead Co.)
  • For Finishing Supplies, use the following:
  • Two 5” squares Batting
  • 8” square Backing Fabric
  • 1 skein (DMC 987, 3033) for twisted cording
  • Two 5” squares Mat Board

Stitch Types

Cross-stitch: 2 strands or as indicated in key
Backstitch: 1 strand
Smyrna Cross: 2 strands floss, 2 strands #4 braid
Rhodes Heart: 1 strand each for blended needle

  • 1. Stitch design centered on fabric over two threads. (Note: Do not pull Rhodes Hearts threads too tight. Using 2 strands of white floss come up at dot on graph, add beads then do down two threads away from next dot continue placing garland on tree. After last dot on tree, add beads as shown in photo to make a "coil" the length of your preference. Tack strand of beads in place as needed.)
  • 2. To finish ornament, use template to cut 2 pieces of mat board. Glue batting to one side of each mat board and trim. Stretch stitched piece over batting on one mat board gluing fabric to back of mat board; stretch backing fabric over batting on one mat board, batting and twisted cording gluing fabric to back of mat board. Glue backs together; add cording to sides of ornament.
