Love Burlap Boxes

Materials

  • Papier-mâché boxes with lids, four
  • Burlap, 1 yd.
  • Wooden clothespins, four
  • Paper items, four each: doilies, 5”; pink print circles, 3-1/2”
  • Jute twine
  • White pearl seed beads

Tools

  • Alphabet punches, 2”
  • Aleene’s: Fast Grab Tacky Spray, Paper Glaze, Acid-Free Tacky Glue

Basic Supplies

  • scissors, marker, ruler
  • 1. Measure boxes from base to bottom of lids. Measure around each box and add 1". Cut burlap strips to measurements.
  • 2. Take lids off boxes. Lay lids on burlap and trace around each lid, adding 2" on each side. Cut burlap squares to measurements.
  • 3. Spray Fast Grab Tacky Spray on burlap strips and press onto boxes, overlapping 1". Spray adhesive on lids (top and sides); position with adhesive-side down on center of each burlap square. Pull burlap up on each side to adhere; cut excess burlap. Place lids on top of boxes.
  • 4. Wrap twine around boxes; tie knots and trim ends.
  • 5. Adhere clothespins to corners of boxes with Acid-Free Tacky Glue. Apply generous amount of Paper Glaze to top of clothespins; let set for one minute. Pour seed beads onto Paper Glaze. Let dry.
  • 6. Adhere paper circles to center of each doily using thin layer of Acid-Free Tacky Glue. Let dry. Punch letters spelling "LOVE" on center of each doily.
  • 7. Attach doilies into clothespins; arrange boxes, spelling "LOVE" to display.
