Flowers on Vellum Card

Materials

  • Cardstock: rust; copper
  • Sheet music patterned
  • Vellum
  • Copper brads, two

Tools

  • Zinnia stamp (Serendipity Stamps)
  • Ancient Page Coal ink pad (Ranger)
  • Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils: 120-ct. set; blender pencil
  • Iridescent glitter gel pen
  • Heat tool
  • 1. Cut rust cardstock to 5-1/2"x8-1/2"; score and fold in half. Cut copper cardstock to 4-1/8"x5-3/8". Cut sheet music paper and vellum to 3-7/8"x5-1/4".
  • 2. Use photo as guide to stamp image twice in opposite corners of vellum; heat set ink. Turn vellum over to color images as follows.
  • 3. Largest flower: Basecoat Deco Orange, avoiding center; layer on Pale Vermillion, shade Raspberry, shade again Tuscan Red. Blend with Pale Vermillion. Center: Basecoat Spanish Orange, layer on Yellowed Orange, add Raspberry, and blend with Deco Orange. Edge with Red Mahogany, add Yellowed Orange highlights, edge Cool Grey 90%, and blend with blender pencil. Leaves: Basecoat Chartreuse, layer on Olive Green, and shade Dark Green.
  • 4. Purple flower: Basecoat Lilac, avoiding center; shade Dahlia Purple, and blend with Rosy Beige. Center: Basecoat Yellowed Orange, layer on Spanish Orange, add Raspberry, and blend with Yellowed Orange. Leaves: See Step 3.
  • 5. Top flower: Basecoat Yellowed Orange, layer on Crimson Red, and blend with Yellowed Orange. Highlight Yellow Chartreuse, edge petals Crimson Red, and blend with Yellowed Orange. Leaves: See Step 3.
  • 6. Butterfly: Basecoat Chartreuse, avoiding spots. Color spots White. Streak wings Orange, Dahlia Purple, and Crimson Red. Highlight spots and wing sections with gel pen.
  • 7. Place clear adhesive behind a few colored images and adhere to sheet music paper. Matte on copper cardstock; insert brads in opposite corners. Adhere to card.
