Quilled Chick & Bunny Gift Bags

Materials

  • White gift bags, 2”x4”x5-1/4”, two
  • Paper quilling strips, 1/8”-wide: lt. purple; bright purple; white; lt. green; bright green; lt. pink; bright pink; yellow; orange
  • Textured patterned papers (light to medium shades): blue; green; lavender; pink; yellow; white
  • Mini paper blossoms: turquoise; purple; white
  • Metal board clips: lt. purple; pink
  • Ribbon, 5/8”-wide: lt. purple; pink/white check
  • Round rhinestones, 5mm: lt. purple; pink
  • Pink round mini brad

Tools

  • Doodles Staples by Tia Bennett clear corner stamps (Autumn Leaves)
  • Bright pink ink pad
  • Sponge scrap
  • Black fine-tip permanent marker
  • Quilling tool
  • Pinking shears
  • Hole punch, 1/16”
  • Plastic circle template
  • Zip Dry Paper Glue (Beacon Adhesives)

Pattern - Quilled Chick & Bunny Gift Bags

  • General
  • 1. Print and cut out pattern. (Note: Refer to "Quilling Tips".)
  • Chick Bag
  • 1. For sky, cut 3-1/4"x4-1/2" blue rectangle. Cut chick from yellow paper. Transfer face. Use sponge scrap to apply pink ink to cheeks. Draw black eye dots. Glue chick to sky rectangle, following pattern.
  • 2. For grass, cut 1"x3-1/4" green paper strip, trimming top edge with pinking shears. Glue grass to bottom of sky rectangle. Glue sky rectangle to center front of bag.
  • 3. Use pink ink to stamp polka dot corners on pink paper. Cut out stamped corners close to edges. Glue stamped corners from front bag corners.
  • 4. Glue white paper blossom to hat and turquoise blossom to quilled flower. Glue pink and purple rhinestones to blossom centers.
  • 5. For tag, print "spring greetings" on green paper. Cut a rectangle around words. Use purple board clip to attach tag to top of bag.
  • 6. Wrap purple ribbon around handle and tie bow; trim ends.
  • 7. Make and glue quilled shapes as follows:
  • Beak
  • 1. Cut 12" orange strip length, roll into 1/2" circle, crease to form diamond shape, and glue to face.
  • Flowers
  • 1. Cut 18" lt. purple, white, and bright purple strip lengths, roll into 3/4" circles, and glue to bottom of chick.
  • Leaves
  • 1. Cut one 6" lt. green and two 6" bright green strip lengths, roll into 3/8" circles, crease to form leaf shapes, and glue around flowers.
  • Top of Hat
  • 1. Cut 18" lt. pink strip length, roll into 1" circle, crease to form half circle.
  • Bottom of Hat
  • 1. Cut 12" bright pink strip length, roll into 1" circle, crease to form crescent shape, glue to flat side of hat top, and glue hat to chick's head.
  • Bunny Bag
  • 1. For sky, cut 3-1/4"x4-1/2" blue rectangle. Cut bunny from white paper. Transfer face. Use sponge scrap to apply pink ink to cheeks. Draw black eye dots. Punch hole at nose dot; attach pink brad. Glue bunny to sky rectangle, following pattern.
  • 2. Repeat Step 2 from Chick Bag.
  • 3. Use pink ink to stamp scallop corners on purple paper. Cut out stamped corners close to edges. Glue stamped corners from front bag corners.
  • 4. Glue purple and turquoise paper blossoms to quilled flowers. Glue pink and purple rhinestones to blossom centers.
  • 5. For tag, print "happy easter" on green paper. Cut rectangle around words. Use pink board clip to attach tag to top of bag.
  • 6. Wrap pink ribbon around handle and tie bow; trim ends.
  • 7. Make and glue quilled shapes as follows:
  • Bunny Bag - Flowers
  • 1. Cut 18" lt. pink, yellow, and bright pink strip lengths, roll into 3/4" circles, and glue to bottom of bunny.
  • Bunny Bag - Leaves
  • 1. Cut one 6" lt. green and two 6" bright green strip lengths, roll into 3/8" circles, crease to form leaf shapes, and glue around flowers.
  • Bunny Bag - Ears
  • 1. Cut two 18" white strip lengths, roll into 3/4" circles, crease to form teardrops, and glue to bunny's head.
