Basic Supplies

  • paper trimmer, scissors, ruler, pencil, paintbrushes, heat tool, aluminum foil, paper towels, spring-type clothespins, newspaper (to cover work surface)
  • 1. Paint front and sides of window frames and one side of full-size ATC with Liquid Appliqué. Let dry completely.
  • 2. Choose desired titles and adhere chipboard letters and/or numbers to largest frame inserts; let dry. Working on protected surface, completely cover letters and front of chipboard insert with white glue. Tear off foil pieces slightly larger than inserts. Crinkle foil and then smooth flat. Apply foil over inserts, leaving some slack so foil can be molded around and between letters first, then wrapped to back side of insert. Tape foil edges at back of insert.
  • 3. Paint foil with blue or purple paint; wipe away excess with paper towel and let dry. Paint over first color with black; wipe away excess and let dry. Seal inserts with two coats spray sealer; let dry.
  • 4. Using heat tool, activate Liquid Appliqué on frame and full-size ATC until soft and suede-like.
  • 5. Select desired Halloween images and cut to fit behind window openings. Using frames as guides, trace slots onto plain side of full-size ATC. Adhere images.
  • 6. Cut 6-1/2" ribbon length for each ornament. Fold each length in half and adhere ends to top of plain side of ATC using double-sided tape.
  • 7. Adhere title insert into frame, being careful not to tear foil.
  • 8. Place small amount of white glue on back side of window frame. Align frame over ATC and press together; let dry, clamping pieces together with clothespins as needed.
  • 9. Fill window openings with Glossy Accents; let dry.
  • Tip
  • 1. Look online for vintage images you can use to create other holiday ornaments.
