Paper Cone Christmas Trees

  • Paper Cone Christmas Trees


  • Recycled small can (designer used cat food can)
  • Cardstock or construction paper: green, red, white
  • Holiday-print paper
  • Wooden shapes: circles, stars
  • Wooden dowel, 8” length
  • Plastic-foam scrap, two 1” squares
  • DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paints: Primary Red, Citron Green


  • Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue
  • Scissors
  • Black marker
  • Paintbrushes
  • Newspaper (to cover work surface)
  • 1. On covered work surface, paint eight stars or circles Citron Green or Primary Red. Use black marker to outline shapes.
  • 2. Measure and cut 6"x9" cardstock rectangle. Roll rectangle into cone; trim ends. Glue cone ends together. Glue stars or circles on cone.
  • 3. Insert wooden dowel into one plastic-foam scrap. Glue dowel into cone. Glue large star or circle on end of dowel.
  • 4. Measure and cut print paper same-size as recycled can. Glue print paper around can.
  • 5. Glue remaining 1" plastic-foam scrap into can. Insert dowel into plastic foam scrap.
  • 6. Fill space around bottom of tree with wrapped candies.
