  • 1. Print full-size patterns and use transfer paper and pencil to transfer basic outlines onto wooden board.
  • 2. Paint areas around door, squirrel and mushrooms Maple Stain with #10 flat as shown. Wipe stain immediately with paper towel.
  • 3. Paint door Deep Turquoise with #10 flat. Rinse brush. Paint trim around door Dolphin as shown using same brush.
  • 4. Paint window-opening (2:1) mixture of Cotton Ball and Deep Turquoise. Rinse brush. Outline door, door details, window and window details (1:1) mixture of Night Sky and Deep Turquoise with #1 round. Paint wood grain detail around door (1:1) mixture of Dolphin and Black Tie with #1 round.
  • 5. Paint wood grain on stained areas from Step 2 Cocoa Bean with #1 round as shown.
  • 6. Paint squirrel’s face, stomach, inside of feet and tail Almond with #1 round. Paint squirrel fur Brown Sugar with #1 round as shown. Paint doorknob and mushroom tops Red Hot with #1 round. Let dry.
  • 7. Transfer wooden sign shape to door. Paint wooden sign (1:½) Almond and Brown Sugar with #10 flat.  Paint wood grain and mushroom stem details Coffee Bean with #1 liner as shown. Let dry completely.
  • 8. Transfer words onto wooden sign. Outline “Gnome” Cotton Ball with #1 liner twice. Use same brush to add mushroom spots as shown. Outline “Sweet” Red Hot with #1 liner as shown.
  • 9. Paint grass Apple Green with #1 liner. Highlight Grass Inch Worm with same brush as shown.
  • 10. Outline squirrel, fill in squirrel’s nose and eye, and add mushroom stem details using Coffee Bean with #1 liner. Dip end of brush in Cotton Ball to create eye reflection and nose highlight. Let dry completely. Seal entire surface with matte varnish with #10 flat.

  • 1. Visit www.CraftIdeas.com to print full-size patterns, click on Magazine, then Patterns. Use transfer paper and pencil to transfer basic outlines onto wooden board.
  • 2. Paint in between trees Soft Jade using #10 flat. Rinse brush. Use same brush to paint Inch Worm on left lower section in between trees. Rinse brush. Paint upper sky Chick using same brush and blend into other colors as shown.
  • 3. Paint mushroom stems Almond with #10 flat. Rinse brush. Use same brush to paint background trees Coffee Bean. 
  • 4. Paint mushroom tops Red Hot with #10 flat. Use same brush without rinsing to shade mushroom tops Dark Scarlet. 
  • 5. Shade mushroom stems (1:1) mixture of Almond and Brown Sugar with #10 flat. Paint windows (2:1) mixture of Cotton Ball and Deep Turquoise with #10 flat. Paint left door Deep Turquoise, middle door Pink Tropics and right door Lavender Fields with #10 flat. Rinse brush before and after switching colors.
  • 6. Paint dots on mushroom, outline doors and windows Cotton Ball with #1 round.
  • 7. Pounce Green Beret with 3/8” stencil to bottom half of grass. Use same brush and Inch Worm to highlight grass as shown. Let dry completely. Seal entire surface with matte varnish with #10 flat.
