Let It Snow Keepsake Box & Frame

for  Design Master

Accent favorite winter memories with a simple, stylish snowflake motif and Design Master paints.

Materials

  • Paper-mâché box, 5”x5”x5”
  • Fiber board frame, 8”x10”
  • Adhesive snowflake scrapbooking embellishments
  • Snowflake rub-on transfers
  • Velvet ribbon, 1/4”-wide: blue, aqua zigzag

Tools

  • Design Master Sprays: COLORTOOL Blue Sky (751), Premium Metals Super Silver (732)
  • Painter's tape, 1-1/2"
  • Glue

Basic Supplies

  • water misting bottle, large cardboard box, paper towels
  • Sizes
  • 1. Box is 5" and frame is 8"x10".
  • Keepsake Box
  • 1. In large cardboard box or on protected surface, spray lid Blue Sky. Apply two to three light coats; let dry between coats.
  • 2. Spray box with two light coats Super Silver; let dry thoroughly.
  • 3. Temporarily place lid on box. Apply masking tape around center of exposed box. Remove lid. Ensure tape edges are adhered to box.
  • 4. Holding bottle 15" away, mist all sides of box with water. Immediately spray with Blue Sky. Let set 20 seconds, then lightly dab/wipe moisture from surface with paper towel. Where water droplets were, paint is resisted and shows underlying color in mottled pattern. Let dry.
  • 5. Remove tape from box. Apply rub-on snowflakes randomly on silver band and on box top.
  • 6. Wrap lid edge with blue velvet ribbon and glue in place.

  • Frame
  • 1. In large cardboard box or on protected surface, spray frame Blue Sky. Apply three light coats to all surfaces; let dry between coats.
  • 2. Holding bottle 15" away, mist back of frame with water. Immediately spray with Super Silver. Let set 20 seconds, then lightly dab/wipe moisture from surface with paper towel. Where water droplets were, paint is resisted and shows underlying color in mottled pattern. Let dry.
  • 3. Turn frame over and repeat on front side; let dry.
  • 4. Wrap frame edge with aqua velvet ribbon and glue in place.
  • Tip
  • 1. For chic giftwrap, apply same technique to rolls of plain kraft or white wrapping paper.
