Pattern - Christmas Countdown Alarm Clock

  • 1. Print out full-sized patterns.
  • 2. Cut 5/16" dowel into two 1-3/4" lengths. Sand one end of each piece at a slight angle and other end rounded for clock feet. Puncture hole into center of angled end of dowel with pushpin. Insert 1/2" screw eye into hole and screw in loosely. Set aside.
  • 3. Cut 1/8" dowel into one 3-1/4" and two 2-1/2" lengths. Adhere wood beads to top of each 1/8"x2-1/2" dowel. Cut 1/4"x3" strip from green cardstock, place adhesive on strip, and wrap in rolling motion approximately 1-1/4" up from end. Let dry.
  • 4. Print out the following on white multipurpose paper with bold, bright green Franklin Gothic Medium font: 1-12 clock numbers in 30-font size, two "DO NOT OPEN UNTIL CHRISTMAS" in 18-font size, and "CHRISTMAS COUNT DOWN" and "CHRISTMAS TIME" in 24-font size.
  • 5. Punch out twelve 1" circles from red cardstock. Punch numbers 1-12 using clock numbers printed from Step 3. Punch numbers 1-6 and 12 so numbers are on left side of circle, leaving space for snowflake to be punched out. Punch numbers 7-11 so numbers are on right side of circle. Punch small snowflakes out beside numbers. Adhere number circles onto 1" red circles; let dry. Coat with decoupage; let dry. Adhere circles onto caps of plastic tubes and let dry.
  • 6. Cut out 1-3/4"x3/4" "DO NOT OPEN UNTIL CHRISTMAS" and "CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN" for sign on top of clock. Cut two 2"x1" red cardstock panels. Center cut sentiment onto each red panel and adhere.
  • 7. Transfer clock face onto green cardstock using template pattern. Cut outside edge of clock face using scissors. Punch out holes for plastic tubes using 1" circle punch.
  • 8. Paint rim of 7"x3" box lid, entire lid of two 2" boxes, cut dowels, wood beads, and rolled paper bright green using foam brush. Paint clock hands color of choice with small brush. Let dry. Paint entire 7" box, inside lid and top of lid, and both 2" boxes red using foam brush. Let dry.
  • 9. Center painted cardstock clock face onto bottom of 7" box. Trace inside each punched hole with pencil and mark center for clock hands. Remove cardstock and trace bottom of plastic tubes onto circles drawn on box. Cut out each hole using X-ACTO Knife. Insert tube into hole to make sure they slide in easily; use sandpaper to enlarge hole if needed.
  • 10. Punch one large snowflake from red cardstock and punch hole in center with push pin. Adhere snowflake on center of clock face. Center clock face onto bottom of large box with holes lined up, adhere into place, and let dry. Coat face of clock with thick coat of decoupage, using a dabbing motion to add texture. Let dry.
  • 11. Measure outward from center bottom of clock approximately 2" on each side and 1" from clock front. Mark with pencil and punch hole with push pin. Attach legs using screw eyes on inside of box; apply adhesive for extra strength. Punch hole into center of 2" box lids and bottoms. Insert dowel with wood bead into hole on each lid, nip off any excess, and adhere into place. Measure from center top of clock approximately 2" on each side, and back 7/8" from front, insert push pin to make hole. Push small screw through hole in bottom of each 2" box into clock and attach with nut.
  • 12. Punch hole into center top between 2" boxes with push pin approximately 1" from front of clock. Adhere 1-3/4"x 3/4" sentiments from Step 6 back to back onto sign dowel. Insert sign dowel into hole. Do not adhere dowel into hole; it needs to be able to turn. Cut out printed words for 2" lids in 6-1/2" strips. Wrap around top of lids and adhere.
  • 13. Mix clear satin sealer + small amount of glitter. Apply coat of mixture to entire clock; let dry. Attach clock hands into center of clock using screws, washers, and nuts. Paint screw top red. Use clear coat for a finished look.
  • 14. Fill tubes and 2" boxes with treats and surprises.
