Materials

  • Unfinished wooden birdhouse
  • Unfinished wooden shapes: spool, 2”; circle, 5” diameter

Tools

  • Paintbrushes: liner, #1; flat, 3/4”
  • Plaid Apple Barrel Acrylic Paints: Antique White, Kiwi, Leaf Green, Melted Chocolate, Pumpkin Orange, Yellow; Foam Spouncer Tops
  • Craft glue

Basic Supplies

  • container of water, palette or foam plate, paper towels, sandpaper
  • 1. Basecoat birdhouse walls Antique White using flat. Basecoat birdhouse roof Kiwi and birdhouse base Leaf Green. Basecoat spool and circle Melted Chocolate. Let dry. (Note: If desired, sand smooth, then reapply base colors. Let dry.)
  • 2. Paint woodgrain details on birdhouse walls (1:1) mixture of Antique White + Melted Chocolate using liner. Let dry.
  • 3. Paint swirl details on roof Leaf Green using liner; let dry. (Note: Thin paint with small amount of water if desired.)
  • 4. Pounce circular bird bodies on birdhouse front using Foam Spouncers placed on paint bottles. Using photo as guide, pounce one Yellow, Leaf Green, and Pumpkin Orange bird.
  • 5. Paint tails, beaks, and feet on bird bodies Melted Chocolate using liner. Paint curling twig details on base of birdhouse Melted Chocolate using liner. Let dry.
  • 6. Dip paintbrush handle end in Leaf Green; dot paint around birdhouse door.
  • 7. Adhere wooden spool and circle base to bottom of birdhouse.
