Basic Supplies

  • sandpaper and soft cloth, painter’s tape, palette, pencil and transfer paper, large stylus, toothbrush

Pattern - Sugar 'n Spice Cookie Jar

  • 1. Sand lid and remove dust with soft cloth. Apply primer over lid and knob areas; let dry. Sand lightly until smooth.
  • 2. Basecoat lid and knob Snow White. Spray with fixative.
  • 3. Tape off top edge of lid's rim with painter's tape. Basecoat top of lid (3:1) mixture of Cocoa + Milk Chocolate. Let dry.
  • 4. Load pouncer with small amount of extender and apply over top of lid. Load Milk Chocolate on one half of pouncer; shade outer edge of lid. Reload as needed for even coverage. Let dry. Remove tape and spray with fixative.
  • 5. Load Milk Chocolate onto toothbrush then pull back on bristles to splatter lid. See Worksheet below. Let dry. Seal with fixative.
  • 6. Print out full-size patterns. Transfer pattern onto lid.
  • 7. Paint frosting line Snow White using liner. Paint lettering Forest Green using light pressure on liner tip. Use heavier pressure to paint thicker areas of lettering. Let dry. Highlight lettering Snow White.
  • 8. Freehand candy cane stripes Cinnamon Drop using #8 shader. See 1 on Worksheet. Add Forest Green pinstripes between red stripes using liner. Add Snow White pinstripe over each red stripe. See 2 on Worksheet. Load round with Snow White; offload excess on paper towel and drybrush highlight vertically down center of rim. See 3 on Worksheet.
  • 9. Use pencil to lightly draw wavy frosting line on knob. Paint area below line (4:1) mixture of Cocoa + Milk Chocolate. Use 1/4" angular shader and Milk Chocolate to float shading. Use stylus and Cinnamon Drop to add dip dots for sprinkles. Repeat with Forest Green.
  • 10. Erase remaining graphite and pencil marks. Adhere knob onto center of lid. Spray lid with clear sealer.
