Pattern - Stenciled Candle Lanterns & Coasters

  • Lanterns
  • 1. Print full-size patterns. Transfer patterns onto stencils. Follow manufacturer's instructions on stencils to create two Halloween-scene designs.
  • 2. Remove lids or hangers from jars. Working on scrap cardboard and in well-ventilated area, spray bottom half of each jar Purple. Spray lightly as you move toward top of jar creating ombre effect. Let dry.
  • 3. Lightly blot back side of Halloween-scene stencil with wet paper towel to make stencil tacky. Align stencil on bottom of jar. Apply Black 3D paint with paintbrush in sweeping motion by holding stencil with fingers and using other hand to brush ink through mesh openings on stencil. Lift up stencil corners; remove stencil and rinse with water. Apply layer of Black 3D paint around bottom of jar. Let dry.
  • 4. Re-attach hangers or lids to jars. Insert tea candle or battery-operated tea light.
  • Black Coasters
  • 1. Print out full-size patterns. Transfer patterns onto stencils. Follow manufacturer's instructions on stencils to create four Halloween-design prints.
  • 2. Cut stencil design to fit black tile using scissors. Center stencil on tile and apply Ultra White paint over openings on stencil using paintbrush. Let set.
  • 3. Remove stencil and wash with water, making sure paint does not clog silkscreen mesh. Blot stencil with paper towel; let dry.
  • 4. Apply sealer/finisher to coaster. Let dry. Repeat process to create three additional coaster designs.
  • White Coasters
  • 1. Print out full-size patterns. Transfer patterns onto stencils. Follow manufacturer's instructions to create four Halloween-design stencils.
  • 2. Load White screen printing ink onto paintbrush; off-load onto damp paper towel, and apply to wooden coaster in circular motion. Continue rubbing ink on coaster in circular motion until surface and edges are completely covered. Wipe off excess paint with dry paper towels. Let dry.
  • 3. Cut stencil design to fit wooden coaster. For single-color coasters, dip brush in Black screen printing ink and apply to stencil openings. Let set for one minute; remove stencil and rinse with water. For two-color coasters, apply Black screen printing ink to saying or image on stencil. Using different paintbrush, apply Orange screen printing ink to other parts of design on stencil. Let set for one minute; remove stencil and rinse with water. Let dry.
  • 4. Apply sealer/finisher to coaster. Repeat process to create three additional coaster designs. Let dry.
