  • Stamped Drop Cloth Rug

  • Canvas drop cloth, 22-1/2”x33”, two
  • Warm & Natural needled cotton batting, 22-1/2”x33” (The Warm Co.)

  • Ornate Elements Kit: square foam stamp, 4” (Delta)
  • Americana Acrylic Paint: Dk. Chocolate (DecoArt)
  • Fabric Painting Medium (DecoArt)
  • Foam applicator for stamping
  • Sewing machine and off-white thread
  • Sewing needle
  • Masking tape
  • Paper plates
  • Iron and pressing board
  • 1. To make rug, baste batting to wrong side of one canvas rectangle. With right sides facing, sew canvas rectangles together, 1/2" from edges, leaving 6" opening for turning. Trim corners at angle. Turn right side out and hand sew opening closed.
  • 2. Place masking tape across one short side of rug, 2" in from edge. Mark center of side on tape with pencil. Pour paint puddle onto paper plate; mix with Fabric Painting Medium (1 medium: 2 paint). Use foam applicator to dab paint mixture evenly onto stamp. Press stamp down firmly on rug at edge of tape, centering design at pencil mark, and then lift stamp straight up to prevent paint from smudging.
  • 3. Stamp two more squares, spaced very closely, on either side of center stamp for evenly spaced row of five. Stamp five more designs above first row, spaced in same way. Repeat for opposite end of rug.
  • 4. Stamp one design on point in center of rug. Let paint dry; heat set with iron.
