Light Bulb Snow Family

  • Paintbrushes: Comfort: Wash, Series 3550, 3/4”; Flat, Series 3300, #6; Angular Shader, Series 3400, 1/4”; Round, Series 7000, #4; Liners, Series JS, #0; 10/0; Speckle Brush
  • Americana Acrylic Matte Sealer
  • Americana Acrylic Paints: Cool White; Payne’s Gray; Sapphire Blue; Burnt Orange; Lamp Black; Burgundy Wine; Avocado Dip; Vivid Violet; Traditional Burnt Umber
  • Sea Wool Sponge
  • Small eye screw and wooden bead with hole to fit screw
  • Black craft wire
  • Black extra-fine-tip permanent pen
  • Cotton-tip swab

Pattern - Light Bulb Snow Family

  • 1. Wrap one wire end around socket and form loop in opposite end to hang bulb to dry between coats.
  • 2. Use wash brush to basecoat bulb Cool White; let dry. Apply sealer. Let dry and basecoat again until bulb is covered. Use moistened sea sponge to lightly sponge paint bulb Payne's Gray; let dry.
  • 3. Print and cut out pattern. Lightly transfer basic pattern to front of bulb. Transfer remaining details as needed.
  • 4. Use #6 flat to paint snow people and ground Cool White. Use 1/4 angular shader to shade separate body sections Payne's Gray. Use cotton-tip swab to apply blush to cheeks. Use #0 liner to paint noses Burnt Orange. Use 10/0 liner to paint eyes, mouths, and heart buttons Lamp Black.
  • 5. Use 10/0 liner and water-thinned Payne's Gray to paint snowflake on mom. Use stylus to dot snowflake Cool White. Use #4 round to paint dad's hat Lamp Black. Use stylus to dot flower petals Vivid Violet and center Avocado Dip. Use #0 liner to paint mom's earmuffs Sapphire ad baby's scarf Burgundy Wine. Thin Cool White to inky consistency; use 10/0 liner to paint plaid stripes on scarf. Use 10/0 liner and slightly thinned Burgundy Wine to paint fringe.
  • 6. Use #0 liner and slightly thinned Traditional Burnt Umber to paint arms. Use pen to outline snow family and clothing.
  • 7. Use #4 round and Payne's Gray to pounce trees into shape, starting at top, then down and across. Go back and lightly pounce Cool White over trees. Use stylus to dot falling snowflakes Cool White. Use speckle brush and water-thinned Cool White to lightly spatter paint bulb.
  • 8. Apply two coats of sealer. While still wet, lightly sprinkle with Glamour Dust. Use back end of narrow brush to apply snow medium to top of bulb. Screw eye screw into wooden bead, then place in top of snow. Cover bead with snow medium, leaving eye screw hole visible. While still wet, sprinkle with Glamour Dust™ and place inside egg cup to dry overnight.
  • 9. For hanger, thread ribbon through eye screw hole; knot ends.
