Sparkling Light Bulb Angel Ornament

  • Recycled, clean light bulb
  • Americana Acrylic Paints*: Cool White; Prussian Blue; Burnt Orange; Lamp Black; Traditional Burnt Umber; Payne’s Gray
  • Paper Effects*: White Pearl; Celestial Glitter
  • Fashion Beadz Bead Writer*: Gold
  • Craft Twinkles*: Crystal
  • Glamour Dust*
  • Aleene’s True Snow (Duncan)
  • White ribbon, 1/4”, 8” length
  • Pink cosmetic blush

Tools

  • Black craft wire
  • Small eye screw and wooden bead with hole to fit screw
  • Black fine-tip permanent pen

Pattern - Sparkling Light Bulb Angel Ornament

  • 1. Wrap one wire end around socket and form loop in other end to hang bulb to dry between coats of paint.
  • 2. Use wash brush to basecoat bulb Cool White; let dry. Apply sealer. Let dry and basecoat again until bulb is covered. Use moistened sea wool sponge to lightly sponge paint light bulb Prussian Blue; let dry.
  • 3. Trace and cut out pattern on page 81. Lightly transfer basic pattern to front of bulb. Transfer remaining details as needed.
  • 4. Use flat brush to paint snowman Cool White. Use angular shader to lightly shade body sections Payne's Gray.
  • 5. Use #0 liner to paint nose Burnt Orange, and mouth Lamp Black.
  • 6. Use #0 liner to paint arms with slightly water-thinned Traditional Burnt Umber.
  • 7. Thin Payne's Gray to inky consistency; use 10/0 liner to paint snowflake on snowman and falling around snowman.
  • 8. Use cotton-tip swab to apply blush to cheeks.
  • 9. Use pen to outline snowman. Use White Pearl writer with fine tip to outline halo and dot snowflakes. Use Gold bead writer to outline wings; let dry. Apply thin coat of Craft Twinkles® to inside of wings. While still wet, sprinkle with Celestial Glitter.
  • 10. Use speckle brush and water-thinned Cool White to lightly spatter paint bulb. Let dry and remove hanging wire.
  • 11. Use back end of narrow paintbrush to apply True Snow to top socket area of bulb. Screw eye screw into wooden bead and place bead into top of snow. Cover wooden bead with snow, leaving eye screw hole. While still wet, sprinkle snow with Glamour Dust™ and place inside egg cup to dry overnight.
  • 12. For hanger, thread ribbon through eye screw hole; knot ends.
