Matchbox Bear Ornament

Materials

  • Match box, 1-1/2”x2”
  • Flat wooden octagons: small (ears), two; large (muzzle)
  • Americana Acrylic Paints: Snow White; Lamp Black; Santa Red (DecoArt)
  • White paint paper, 1-7/16”x2”, two
  • Green craft wire, 22-gauge, 24” length
  • Red jute cord, 12” length

Tools

  • Dura Clear (DS19) Varnish (DecoArt)
  • Black extra-fine tip marker
  • RSET-ACRY 1000 Deluxe Beginner Brush Set (Royal & Langnickel)
  • Kid’s Choice! Glue (Beacon Adhesives)

Pattern - Matchbox Bear Ornament

  • 1. Print and cut out pattern. Glue one piece of paint paper to front and back of match box, aligning edges.
  • 2. Paint match box, ears, and muzzle Snow White. Dry brush cheeks Santa Red. Transfer pattern to muzzle. Use Lamp Black to paint nose and mouth; dot eyes. Use marker to outline edges of box, muzzle, and along top edges of ears; draw hair lines in ears. Paint mouth and dot cheeks Santa Red.
  • 3. For hanger, bend wire in half and insert ends at each side between box and match tray from top of box to bottom, leaving 3" loop at top; twist wire ends together at bottom. Coil ends around paintbrush handle. Tie jute cord box to left side of bear.
