Lazy Daisy Wastebasket

Materials

  • Easy Décor! Papier-Mâché Round Waste basket (Walnut Hollow)
  • FolkArt*: Artist’s Pigments: Pure Black; Titanium White; Clearcote Aerosol Acrylic Sealer: Matte
  • Black Fashion Crochet Thread (Coats & Clark)

Tools

  • Knit-Wit round tool*
  • Stiffen Stuff Super Thick Fabric Stiffening Spray (Beacon Adhesives)
  • Fabri-Tac Permanent Adhesive (Beacon Adhesives)
  • FolkArt One Stroke Paintbrushes*: Flat, 3/4”; Script Liner, #1
  • Painter’s tape
  • Cotton-tip swabs
  • Wax paper

Pattern - Lazy Daisy Wastebasket

  • 1. Basecoat outer wastebasket Titanium White and inside Pure Black. Let dry.
  • 2. Tape off 1/2" stripe around rim; Paint Pure Black. Remove tape.
  • 3. Print and cut out pattern. Transfer design to wastebasket.
  • 4. Dip cotton-tip swab into Pure Black; dab large dots as indicated by pattern. Use paintbrush handle for small Pure Black dots.
  • 5. For daisy stems, glue arches length of thread across wastebasket as shown. Repeat three times. Trim ends flush with bottom.
  • 6. Transfer leaves. Use liner to paint leaves Pure Black.
  • 7. Apply sealer.
  • 8. For daisies, follow Knit-Wit manufacturer's instructions to make four thread rosettes. (Note: Do not form border.) Tie off rosette after completing center. Trim threads close to knot.
  • 9. Place daisies onto wax paper. Brush one side with stiffener. Let dry.
  • 10. Glue daisies to stems, stiffened side down.
