  • Catch a Snowflake


  • Wooden frame, 20”x24”
  • Wooden snowflakes, 3”-4”, eight
  • Assorted flat-backed jewels and rhinestones
  • Beading wire


  • Krylon Glitter Blaster Glitter Spray Paints: Sapphire Shimmer, Silver Flash, Diamond Dust; True Blue Indoor/Outdoor; Platinum Gray Indoor/Outdoor Primer; Modern White Dual; Aluminum Metallic
  • Staple gun and staples
  • Wire cutter or nippers
  • Adhesives: thick tacky glue, heavy-duty packing tape

Basic Supplies

  • newspaper (to cover work surface), ruler, pencil, fine sandpaper, soft cloth, large cardboard box
  • 1. Lightly sand frame and snowflakes. Wipe with soft cloth.
  • 2. In well-ventilated, newspaper-covered area, spray frame Platinum Gray. When dry, spray frame with several light coats of True Blue. Let dry.
  • 3. Divide unpainted snowflakes into three groups. Spray paint snowflake groups True Blue, Modern White, and Aluminum Metallic. Let dry.
  • 4. Spray snowflakes with several light coats of Glitter Blast as follows: blue snowflakes with Sapphire Shimmer, white snowflakes with Diamond Dust, silver snowflakes with Silver Flash. Let dry.
  • 5. Adhere flat-backed jewels and embellishments on snowflakes as desired using tacky glue. Let dry.
  • 6. On back of frame, measure and mark center point on top and bottom. Measure and mark center of each half.
  • 7. Cut three lengths of beading wire to length of frame, adding 3". Twist small loop at end of one wire; firmly staple to center top at back of frame. Pull wire taut and staple to center point at bottom of frame. Repeat, stapling two more wires to back of frame, connecting midpoints in each section. Use wire cutters to trim lengths, if needed.
  • 8. Flip frame over and arrange snowflakes on three wires. Secure snowflakes to wires using 1-1/2" piece of heavy-duty tape across back.
  • 9. Attach hanger of choice or prop up on angle.

  • 1. Spray snowflakes with paint by situating them in a large cardboard box.
