Nana & Papa Frames

  • Nana & Papa Frames


  • Unfinished wooden frame, 8” square
  • Wooden alphabet letters
  • Recycled magazines
  • Favorite grandpa or grandma photo
  • DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paints: Lamp Black, Primary Red, True Blue


  • Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Sponge scrap or foam brush
  • Plastic bowl
  • Paintbrush
  • Newspaper (to cover work surface)
  • 1. On covered work surface, paint frame Lamp Black. Let dry. Paint alphabet letters to spell "Papa" True Blue and "Nana" Primary Red. Let dry.
  • 2. Cut descriptive words and fun phrases from recycled magazines.
  • 3. In plastic bowl, mix glue with small amount water. Use sponge scrap or foam brush to apply mixture on frame. Press magazine words and phrases on frame. Apply another coat of mixture over words and phrases. Smooth edges and wrinkles. Let dry.
  • 4. Glue "Nana" or "Papa" on bottom of frame. Insert photo in back of frame.
