Basic Supplies

  • latex or nitrile gloves, paper towels, newspaper or kraft paper, container of water, fine black marker, measuring cup and spoon, mixing bowl and craft stick, soft cloth
  • 1. Cover work area with newspaper or kraft paper. Sort out blue, sparkle blue, white, and white sparkle tiles.
  • 2. Arrange white and white sparkle tiles to make snowflake with 1/8" space in between for grout lines. Start from center of snowflake and work out. Fill in background with blue and sparkle blue tiles.

  • 3. When satisfied with layout, adhere tiles to base. Allow mosaic to dry following manufacturer's instructions.

  • 4. Mix 1 Tbsp. blue colorant with 1-1/2 Tbsp. water in mixing bowl; add 1/4 cup white grout and mix to peanut butter consistency using craft stick.

  • 5. With gloved hand, smooth grout over tile and fill in crevices. Remove excess grout with hand. Let set for 10 minutes.

  • 6. Use damp sponge or paper towel to remove grout haze. Let set overnight. When completely dry, buff with soft cloth.

  • Tip
  • Never dispose of grout down a drain. Instead, use a paper towel to wipe out mixing bowl, throwing excess grout in a trash receptacle.
