Materials

  • Diamond Tech Square Metal Coasters, 5-1/2”, two
  • Jennifer’s Mosaics Gold Veined Venetian Tile Mix

Tools

  • Jennifer’s Mosaics Wheeled Glass Nippers and Mosaic Elements Kit (or sponge, mixing cup and spoon, measuring cup, safety glasses)
  • Jennifer’s Mosaics White Grout, 2 lbs.
  • Eclectic Products E6000 Industrial Strength Adhesive

Basic Supplies

  • latex gloves, sponge, soft cloth, paper towels, disposable cup
  • 1. On protected work surface, sort colors from tile mix. Each coaster requires 21 tiles.
  • 2. While wearing safety glasses, nip tiles in half by placing nipper in center of tile and squeezing. Cut one half in half again to make two small squares.

  • 3. Using image as guide, position tiles in coaster, leaving 1/8" space between tiles for grout. When satisfied with design, adhere tile in place using small amount of adhesive. Let dry overnight.

  • 4. Repeat Steps 1-3 for each coaster.
  • 5. Follow manufacturer's instructions to mix 1/4 cup grout + small amount of water to achieve consistency of peanut butter. With gloved hand, smooth grout over tile to fill in crevices. Remove as much grout as possible from tile surfaces. Let set 10 minutes.

  • 6. Dampen sponge and apply even pressure across coaster surface to remove excess grout. Let coasters set overnight.

  • 7. Buff coaster with soft cloth.
