Bread Basket Clock

  • Bread Basket Clock

Materials

  • Old wire basket with flat bottom
  • Cardstock
  • Sheer gold ribbon
  • Book Cloth Stickers (Chatterbox Designs) or printable canvas
  • Optional: Off-white metal paint

Tools

  • Circle stamps (Scrappy Cat Creations)
  • Colorbox Fluid Chalk ink pads (Clearsnap)
  • Clock works (Walnut Hollow)
  • Drill
  • Zip Dry Paper Glue (Beacon Adhesives)
  • Optional: Computer and printer
  • 1. Clean basket. Paint if desired. Use tools and/or sandpaper to distress paint for an aged look.
  • 2. Cut cardstock to fit bottom of basket. For focal image, use pencil to mark center. Stamp background circle, then outline, onto center.
  • 3. Tear a quote and several related words from book cloth; glue to cardstock shape. (Note: Instead of using stickers, use computer to print desired quotes and words on printable canvas, cut out, and glue to cardstock shape.)
  • 4. Stamp different-sized background circles and solid circles on cardstock shape as desired. Glue cardstock shape to basket bottom; let dry.
  • 5. Drill hole in basket center. Adhere ribbon to cardstock, and tie short ribbon lengths at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions on basket rim.
  • 6. Follow manufacturer's instructions to install clock works.
  • Tip
  • 1. Look for wire baskets at your local flea market, garage sales or even at the back of your cupboard. Since you're hanging it on the wall, look for a fairly shallow basket in any shape you'd like.
