GNI Tropical Beach Party Invitation & Kit

Materials

  • Cardstock: Bohemia (My Mind’s Eye): diagonal gold stripes; blue solid; white
  • Clear lightweight vinyl (available at fabric stores)
  • Cloud 9 Design Halo button snaps, two (Fiskars)
  • Black paper fastener, 1/8”
  • Blue cord, 11” length
  • Blue grosgrain ribbon 3/8”, 12” length

Tools

  • Circle punches: 1/8”; 3/4”; 1”
  • Corner rounder punch
  • Blue ink pad
  • Sandpaper
  • Rotary tool and scoring blade
  • Black fine-tip permanent marker
  • Zip Dry Paper Glue (Beacon Adhesives)
  • Sewing machine and silver thread
  • Optional: Computer and printer

Pattern - GNI Tropical Beach Party Invitation

  • Invitation
  • 1. Print and cut out pattern. Cut fish shape from diagonal stripe paper. (Note: Two fish invitations may be cut from one sheet.)
  • 2. Score fish along solid lines indicated on pattern; fold along scored lines so solid gold side of paper is inside of fish. Trim rounded edges of fish if not even. Sand front and back edges of fish.
  • 3. Use dry sponge scrap to ink fish edges blue.
  • 4. Draw: line around gold side close to edge and around diagonal body sections on front; mouth on bottom section.
  • 5. Punch holes in top and bottom sections of fish, 1/2" from edges and centered from side to side. Attach halo button snaps to holes.
  • 6. For eye, punch 1" circle from solid blue cardstock; sand edges. Punch 3/4" circles from white cardstock. Glue white circle to blue circle. Punch 1/8" hole in center of circles; attach paper fastener. Glue eye to face.
  • 7. Print or handwrite invitation details on white cardstock. Cut 2-1/2"x3" rectangle around words; round corners. Antique rectangle edges with blue ink. Draw line around rectangle close to edges. Glue rectangle inside fish.
  • 8. Fold top and bottom sections over fish. Wrap cord around halo buttons; tie bow.
  • Kit
  • 1. For pouch, cut 3-1/2"x10-1/2" vinyl rectangle. Fold in half; trim edges with decorative-edge scissors.
  • 2. Sew sides together, 1/4" from edges, leaving top open. Fill pouch with project supplies. Fold top over 1/2"; punch two 1/8" holes, 1-1/2" apart, through all layers. Thread ribbon through holes; tie bow.
