Simple-Sew Lanyard

Simple strips of fabric can be used to make quick and easy gifts. Make a lanyard for your favorite teacher, coach or co-worker in their favorite color combinations or their favorite sports team.

Fabric of choice, 3”x36”
Dritz Swivel Hook, 1”
Optional embellishments: pre-made crochet flowers; buttons, two

tools


Sewing machine with coordinating thread
Needle

basic supplies


Iron and pressing surface
Scissors

Project Instructions

1. Cut 3”x36” strip from fabric of choice and press flat. Fold fabric in half lengthwise and press to create crisp crease in center of strip. 

2. Open fabric strip and fold outer edges in so they touch the center crease. Press and fold along crease. Sew edges closed with straight stitch 1/8” away from edge. Repeat for other side.

3. Wrap one end of fabric around hook and sew edges down. Layer other end of fabric strip on top of sewn edges and stitch a square with an X through it to secure.  Add embellishments as desired using a needle with coordinating thread.
