Pattern - Simply Elegant Guest Book

  • 1. For front and back cover, cut 8"x16-3/4" rectangles from linen and satin fabrics. Print and cut out pattern. Transfer flower to right side of linen fabric with edge of flower design 1" from right edge and centered between top and bottom. (Note: Transfer design to wrong side of fabric so lines do not show after flower shapes are cut out.) Use small sharp scissors to cut out individual flower shapes.
  • 2. Place satin rectangle flat on work surface with right side facing up. Place linen rectangle on top of satin rectangle with right side facing up. Hand sew basting stitch around rectangles, 1/2" from edges, to join.
  • 3. Use one strand perle cotton to stem stitch 1/8" from cut flower edges, and to sew pearl beads to center of flower. Trim lavender rectangle 1/4" from edges.
  • 4. Cut two 6"x7" rectangles from batting. Glue one to each chipboard rectangle around edges only.
  • 5. With right side of fabric facing work surface, place boards batting side down on fabric, leaving 1" of fabric visible around all edges. (Note: There will be 3/4" excess fabric at center.) Fold and glue raw fabric edges to boards, trimming corners as needed.
  • 6. Glue piping around inside edges of book, beginning and ending at center bottom.
  • 7. For ties, glue 3" of each ribbon length to center outside edge of each chipboard rectangle.
  • 8. Cut six 6"x14" pages from paper. Stack pages with edges even and machine stitch center seam twice, using largest stitch and leaving thread ends long. Fold sheets in half at stitching. Glue thread ends to outside sheets and outside sheets to boards at inside front and back.
