Vintage Lace Memo Board

  • Vintage Lace Memo Board


  • Canvas fabric, 1 yd.
  • Neutral felt, 1 yd.
  • Neutral fabric, 1/2 yd.
  • Assorted vintage lace and doilies, including large doily for top of board
  • Homasote Board (available at Menards)
  • Corsage pins


  • Staple gun
  • Heavy-duty craft knife
  • Carpenter or heavy metal ruler
  • Neutral upholstery tacks (or paint metallic)
  • Safety glasses
  • 1. Use craft knife to cut homasote board to 20"x24".
  • 2. Cut canvas fabric 3" larger than cut board.
  • 3. Center board over canvas. Staple canvas to back of board, pulling fabric taught, mitering corners.
  • 4. Cut 18"x26" rectangle from neutral fabric. Repeat Step 3, centering fabric in middle of board.
  • 5. Use photo as placement guide to layer lace and staple ends to back of board, making sure lace is taught.
  • 6. For added decoration and support, add corsage pins inserted at an angle where laces intersect. Painted upholstery tacks may also be used.
  • 7. Use corsage pins to secure large doily to top of board.
  • 8. Use push pins to secure notes to board or tuck them under lace.
  • 9. Cut felt backing slightly smaller than board dimensions. Use upholstery tacks to secure backing to board.
