Sew Tweet Birds

Materials

  • Wool felt scraps: white; lavender; red; pink; yellow/gold; green
  • Beads: white pearl, 4mm; clear iridescent, 4mm; bright pink bugle
  • Bright blue embroidery floss

Tools

  • Bead thread
  • Embroidery needle
  • Fiberfill stuffing

Pattern - Sew Tweet Birds

  • 1. Print and cut out pattern. (Note: Use three strands of floss for all embroidery.)
  • White/Lavender Bird
  • 1. Cut two bird shapes from white felt and four wing shapes from lavender felt.
  • 2. Pin corresponding shapes together in pairs, making one body shape and two wing shapes.
  • 3. Blanket stitch around edges of pinned shapes, stuffing before finishing embroidery.
  • 4. Use bead thread to sew iridescent beads evenly spaced to one side of both wing shapes, knotting thread ends on back.
  • 5. Use bead thread and blind stitch to hand sew wings symmetrically to both sides of bird.
  • 6. For hanger, cut 10" length from floss. Thread floss on needle. Insert needle through center top back of assembled bird. Remove needle and knot thread ends together.
  • Gold/Green Bird
  • 1. Follow same basic instructions as white/lavender bird, using gold felt for body, green felt for wings, and sew white pearl beads to wings.
  • Red/Pink Bird
  • 1. Follow same basic instructions as white/lavender bird, using red felt for body, pink felt for wings, and sew bugle beads to wings.
