Cozy Halloween Throw

Materials

  • Burnt orange fleece throw or fabric
  • Wool felt scraps: white; black; light orange; medium orange; light brown; sage green; grey
  • Off-white buttons, 7/8”, eight
  • Perle cotton, #8: white; black

Tools

  • Embroidery needle
  • Circle template

Pattern - Cozy Halloween Throw

  • 1. Print and cut out patterns.
  • Skeleton
  • 1. For face, cut 8" circle from white felt. Cut mouth, triangle nose (cut in half along dotted line), and two 1-1/2" circles for eyes from black felt.
  • 2. Use photo as guide to pin felt pieces to face. Use white perle cotton to blanket stitch around edges of felt shapes with loops going around edges of pieces. (Note: Embroider mouth stitches from end to end so that stitches meet in the middle to resemble teeth.)
  • 3. Use black perle cotton to sew button eyes to black felt circles.
  • 4. Pin skeleton face to one corner of throw. Use black perle cotton to blanket stitch around face circle with loops going around edge.
  • Pumpkin
  • 1. For face, cut 8" circle from light orange felt. Cut mouth from white, triangle nose from medium orange, two 1-1/2" eye circles from brown, and 1-1/4"x4" from green felt for stem.
  • 2. Follow steps 2 and 3 from skeleton instructions to attach eyes, nose and mouth to face, using black perle cotton.
  • 3. Pin face and stem to one corner of throw, overlapping top of face on bottom edge of stem. Use black perle cotton to blanket stitch around face circle and stem.
  • Green Ghoul
  • 1. For face, cut 8" circle from green felt. Cut mouth from white, triangle nose from medium orange, and two 1-1/2" eye circles from brown felt.
  • 2. Follow steps 2 and 3 from skeleton instructions to attach eyes, nose and mouth to face, using black perle cotton.
  • 3. Pin face to one corner of throw. Use black perle cotton to blanket stitch around face circle with loops going around edge.
  • Cat
  • 1. For face, cut 8" circle from black felt. Cut mouth from white, triangle nose from medium orange, two 1-1/2" eye circles from brown felt, and two ears from gray felt.
  • 2. Follow steps 2 and 3 from skeleton instructions to attach eyes, nose and mouth to face, using black perle cotton. For whiskers, use white perle cotton to embroider running stitches symmetrically on sides of face.
  • 3. Pin face and ears to one corner of throw, overlapping top of face on bottom edges of ears. Use black perle cotton to blanket stitch around face circle and ears with loops going around edge. Blanket stitch around face circle and ears with loops going around edge, using black perle cotton on ears and white on face.
