  • AUTUMN LEAVES APRON:
  • Cotton fabrics: floral print, 1/2 yd.; muslin, 3/4 yd.
  • Ivory grosgrain ribbon, 7/8”, 83” length
  • 6-strand Embroidery Floss (DMC): Brown (#938)
  • Purple glass beads, six
  • AUTUMN LEAVES TOWEL:
  • White waffle-weave kitchen towel
  • Cotton fabrics: orange, 1/4 yd.; floral print, 4”x5”
  • 6-strand Embroidery Floss (DMC): Brown (938)

Pattern - Autumn Leaves Apron & Towel

  • Autumn Leaves Apron
  • 1. For apron, cut 18"x22" rectangles from floral and muslin fabrics. Use Fig. 1 to trim apron sides as shown. Round bottom corners using plate as template. Set aside.
  • 2. Print and cut out patterns. Cut remaining muslin into three sets of six, 4"x5-1/2" rectangles. Place leaf pattern #1 on first stack. Trace around pattern with marker. Secure all six layers with straight pins. Repeat with remaining stacks and leaf patterns #2 and #3.
  • 3. Sew leaf layers together along marked line. Trim 1/4" from seam.
  • 4. Wash and dry leaves to distress edges. Brush with Chenille Brush to fluff.
  • 5. Transfer leaf and stem pattern to apron front. Place apron in embroidery hoop. Use floss to backstitch stems.
  • 6. Glue leaves, along edges, to apron. Let dry. Continue stem pattern through each leaf with running stitches.
  • 7. For berries, stitch beads to apron with needle and thread.
  • 8. Place apron front and lining, right sides together. Sew along sides and bottom, leaving top open for turning.
  • 9. Clip corners; turn right side out through opening. Press edges.
  • 10. Topstitch along sides and bottom of apron 1/4" from edge. Baste opening closed.
  • 11. Position ribbon across basting line of apron; pin. Use Fig. 2 as placement guide. Apron ties at side.
  • 12. Topstitch around ribbon, 1/4" from edges to secure to apron. Trim ribbon ends.
  • Note
  • 1. Wash fabrics without fabric softener before beginning project. Use 1/4" seam allowance throughout.
  • Autumn Leaves Towel
  • 1. Soak towel in coffee for several hours or until desired color is achieved. Wring out excess coffee and wash.
  • 2. Cut five 4"x5" rectangles from orange fabric. Stack rectangles, right side up, with floral print on top.
  • 3. Print and cut out pattern. Place leaf pattern on stack. Trace around pattern with marker. Secure layers with straight pins.
  • 4. Sew leaf layers together along marked line. Trim 1/4" from seam.
  • 5. Wash and dry leaf to distress edges. Brush with Chenille Brush to fluff.
  • 6. Transfer leaf and stem pattern to towel, using photo as placement guide. Place towel in embroidery hoop. Use floss to backstitch stem.
  • 7. Glue leaf, along edges, to apron. Let dry. Continue stem pattern through leaf with running stitches.
  • 8. For berries, use needle and thread to sew beads to towel.
  • 9. With floss, blanket stitch along bottom edge of towel.

  • 1. Pre-wash fabrics without fabric softener before beginning.
