Towel Easter Pets Trio

Materials

  • FOR EACH:
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Multi-colored fabric
  • Assorted buttons for bows
  • BUNNY:
  • Oversized green bath towel
  • White felt, 12”x12”, four
  • Pink fabric scrap
  • Buttons, two-holed: white, 7/8”, two; black, 3/4”, two; clear, 3/8”, six
  • Fabric button kit and 1-1/16” button
  • Optional carrots: craft felt scraps of green, apple green, gold, and orange
  • LAMB:
  • Oversized white bath towel
  • Felt, 12”x12”: Black Glitter (Kunin), three; pink
  • Buttons, four-holed, two each: white, 3/4”, 7/8”; black, 5/8”
  • White embroidery floss
  • CHICK:
  • Oversized yellow bath towel
  • Orange felt, 12”x12”, six
  • Buttons, two-holed, two each: black, 1”; white, 3/4”; black, 1/2”

Pattern - Towel Easter Pets Trio

  • Note
  • 1. Fold in half lengthwise unless otherwise directed.
  • Bunny
  • 1. Fold and cut towel in half. For body, trim border from one towel half. Fold and cut in half again. Stack front and back body pieces and trim corners at angle. (Note: Each trimmed corner should measure 4".)
  • 2. For ears and legs, use Fig. 1 as guide to cut eight equal rectangles from remaining towel half. Use rectangles with border for ear top fronts. Pair up pieces with right sides together; sew around edges, leaving bottom edge open for turning. Turn right side out. Stuff and pin ears and legs to body front (Fig. 2).

  • 3. Pin right sides of body together with ears and legs pinned between fabric. Sew along outside edges, leaving small opening. Turn right side out. Stuff and hand sew opening closed.
  • 4. For muzzle, cut two white felt sheets in half. Stack halves and trim corners. Use black thread to sew three clear buttons onto each muzzle front. Knot thread in front, leaving 3"-long ends for whiskers. Sew right sides of muzzle pieces together, leaving small opening for turning. Turn right side out. Stuff and sew opening closed. Sew muzzle pieces side-by-side to face, 1" below eyes.
  • 5. For nose, follow button kit manufacturer's instructions to cover button with pink fabric. Sew nose to face.
  • 6. For paw pads, cut from six 2" squares and four 3"x8" rectangles from White felt. Stack rectangles and trim corners. Sew paw pads to leg bottoms as shown.
  • 7. For each carrot, cut two 6"-long triangles from orange or gold felt. Cut 1/4"-wide, varying strip lengths from apple green or green felt. Pin right sides of triangles together with strips between fabric. Stitch across top of carrot, securing strips. Sew along outside edges, leaving small opening for stuffing. Turn right side out, stuff, and sew opening closed. Wrinkle green strips.
  • Lamb
  • 1. Fold and cut towel in half. For body, trim border from one half, then fold and cut in half again. Stack halves and trim corners.
  • 2. For ears, cut two 2-1/2"x3" rectangles from black glitter felt; trim corners at one end of each ear. For head, cut two 5"x8-1/2" rectangles from black glitter felt sheet; stack and trim corners. For eyes, stack white and black buttons to head, 3" from bottom. Pin right sides of head together with ears pinned between fabric as shown. Sew around outside edges, leaving small opening. Turn right side out, stuff, and sew opening closed. Use two strands floss to stitch "y" shaped nose and mouth as shown, knotting and clipping thread in back.
  • 3. For tail, cut two 2"x3" rectangles from black glitter felt; stack and trim corners at one end. Sew right sides together, leaving one width open. Turn right side out; stuff and pin straight edge to body.
  • 4. For legs, cut eight 2-1/2"x4" rectangles from black glitter felt. Stack in pairs; trim corners at one end. Sew right sides together, leaving one width open. Turn right side out; stuff and pin to body between fabric.
  • 5. Pin right sides of body fabric together with tail and leg pieces pinned between fabric. Sew along outside edges, leaving small opening for turning. Turn right side out; stuff and hand sew opening closed. Tack head to body.
  • 6. For flower, print and cut out pattern. Cut two flowers from hot pink felt. Sew right sides together, leaving small opening for turning. Turn right side out; stuff and sew opening closed. Sew button to flower center and tack to body.
  • Chick
  • 1. Fold and cut towel in half. For body, trim border from one towel half, then fold and cut in half again. Stack halves and trim corners. (Note: Each trimmed corner should measure 5".)
  • 2. For eyes, sew white and black buttons to body front, centered 7" from top of body front. For beak, cut two 9"x10" diamonds from orange felt. (Note: Use excess corner pieces for Bunny's carrots if desired.) With right sides together, sew beak pieces around edges, leaving small opening. Turn right side out; sew opening closed. Topstitch around outside beak edges and once across center of beak (Fig. 3). Sew beak to body, 1" below eyes, along center seam.

  • 3. Pin right sides of body fabric together. Sew along outside edges, leaving small opening for turning. Turn right side out; stuff and hand sew opening closed.
  • 4. For feet, cut four 6"x9" rectangles from orange felt. Stack pairs and trim corners one end and slightly round opposite ends. Topstitch around outside edges, leaving 1/4" seams and small opening. Lightly stuff; sew opening closed. Tack foot ends with trimmed corners to body.
  • 5. For crown, print and cut out pattern. Cut two crowns from orange felt. Topstitch around outside edges. Tack crown to head.
  • Bows
  • 1. Cut three 4-1/2"x18" rectangles from multi-colored fabric. Fold each rectangle in half with right sides together; sew along long edges, leaving short end open for turning. Turn right side out. Lightly stuff; stitch opening closed.
  • 2. Stitch through center of bow, pulling thread tightly to gather; knot. Stack and sew buttons to bow center. Tack bow to pet.
