Thanksgiving Kitchen/Tea Towels

Materials

  • White or neutral stripe/check dishtowels, two
  • Click-n-Craft (The Vintage Workshop): white fabric inkjet sheets, two; CD-ROM images
  • Yellow/gold twill tape, 5/8”
  • Green satin ribbon, 1-1/2”
  • White pearl buttons, 5/8”, two; 7/8”
  • Brown embroidery floss

Tools

  • Embroidery needle
  • Computer and color printer

Project Instructions

  • Note: Printed image is washable. Purchase ribbon with satin on one side only, then use reverse side for front. Use three strands of floss for all embroidery.
  • Turkey Towel

  • 1. Follow manufacturer's instructions to print largest size of turkey image on inkjet sheet. Cut out image, leaving 1/4" border. Remove backing.
  • 2. Press printed fabric image edges over 1/4" to back. Pin image to towel front, centered from side to side and 4" up from bottom. Single feather stitch around design edges with stitches going away from design.
  • 3. Pin two rows of twill tape horizontally across towel under turkey design, folding raw edges under at ends. Feather stitch through center of twill tape pieces.
  • 4. Use brown floss to sew 5/8" buttons to center of twill tape lengths.
  • Pumpkin Towel

  • 1. Follow manufacturer's instructions to print largest size of pumpkin image on inkjet sheet. Cut out image, leaving 1/4" border. Remove backing.
  • 2. Press printed fabric image edges over 1/4" to back. Pin image to towel front, centered from side to side and 5" up from bottom. Feather stitch around design edges with stitches going away from design.
  • 3. Pin green ribbon horizontally across towel under pumpkin design, folding raw edges under at ends. Feather stitch along finished ribbon edges.
  • 4. Use brown floss to sew 7/8" button to center of ribbon.
