  • Giraffe
  • 1. Print and cut out patterns. Cut 6"x12" rectangle from scrap paper. Tape rectangle horizontally to bottom of neck for body with right side edges even.
  • 2. From orange dot fabric, cut: two head, necks, and bodies; four each; eight 2-1/2"x12" rectangles (legs); two 1-1/2"x12" rectangles (tail). For horns, cut four 1-1/2"x2" rectangles.
  • 3. Sew tail rectangles together along side and bottom edges, leaving top open. Trim seam at corners. Turn tail right side out. Tie knot in tail 3" from stitched end. Baste raw edge of tail to top back side of body with top of tail 1/4" from top edge of body.
  • 4. Sew corresponding head, neck, and body pieces together, leaving 4" opening on back side of body for turning. Trim seam at corners. Turn right side out. Stuff; hand sew opening closed.
  • 5. Sew legs together in pairs along side and bottom edges, leaving top open. Trim seams at corners. Turn right side out. Stuff. Turn top of legs over 1/4" to inside. Whip stitch along turned edges to join them. Whip stitch legs evenly to both sides of bottom front and back of body (approximately 1-1/4" in from seams).
  • 6. Sew ear and horn pieces together in pairs, leaving one end open. Trim seams at corners. Turn pieces right side out. Stuff. Turn open ends over 1/4" to inside. Whip stitch along turned edges to join them. Whip stitch ears and horns evenly to both sides of head at top. Sew several stitches to back side of ears and horns to hold them upright on head.
  • 7. For eyes, use white thread to sew buttons on top of each other to both sides of head. For mane, glue boa to back of neck and top of head.
  • Giraffe Note
  • 1. Sew all seams with right sides together, using 1/4" seam allowance, pinning and pressing as needed.
  • Rag Doll
  • 1. Print and cut out patterns. Cut two body shapes, four arms, four legs, and two head shapes from lt. pink fabric.
  • 2. Sew body shapes together, leaving 2-1/2" opening at top. Trim corners; turn right side out. Stuff; hand sew opening closed.
  • 3. Sew arms and legs together in pairs along side and bottom edges, leaving straight edges open. Trim seams at corners; turn right side out. Stuff arms and legs. Turn top of arms and legs over 1/4" to inside. Whip stitch: along turned edges to join; legs to bottom of body at sides; arms to top of body on both sides.
  • 4. Use 1-1/2" circle template to stencil cheeks Carnation Pink Pearl. Transfer mouth. Use two strands floss to stem stitch mouth. Sew head shapes together, leaving 2" opening at top. Turn right side out. Stuff; hand sew opening closed. For eyes, stack black button on white button; sew to face. For nose, follow kit manufacturer's instructions to cover 1/2" button with lt. pink fabric. Sew nose to face, knotting thread in back. Sew bottom back of head to top front of body.
  • 5. For hair, tear fifteen 1/2"x10" orange fabric strips. Thread orange craft thread onto needle and insert through center of each strip to join them. Knot thread ends together. Glue hair to top and back of head. Tie ribbon bow; glue to head.
  • 6. For dress, cut 7"x16" bright pink fabric rectangle. Turn long edges over 1/4" to back. Sew through center of rickrack close to long edges on front of rectangle. Sew short sides of rectangle together for tube (back seam). Use craft thread to sew running stitch around top of dress, 1/2" from edge, beginning and ending at center front, leaving ends long. Put dress on doll. Pull thread ends to gather and tie into bow in front. For straps, wrap 5" rickrack length over each shoulder, gluing ends inside dress at sides.
