Pattern - Sewn & Stamped Star

  • 1. Print out pattern. Transfer two star shapes to wrong side of striped fabric; cut out.
  • 2. Follow manufacturer's instructions to fuse webbing to text and muslin scraps using iron. Draw 2-1/2" circle on paper side of fused text fabric; cut out. Draw 2" circle on paper side of fused plain muslin fabric; cut out.
  • 3. On firm surface, stamp "believe" on plain muslin circle; heat set with iron.
  • 4. Peel paper backing from circles. Fuse text circle to center of right side of one star. Fuse stamped circle to center of text circle.
  • 5. Couch Black braid to outer edges of both circles using black thread, overlapping braid ends 1/4". (Note: Ends can be secured with tiny dot of fabric glue.)
  • 6. Place right sides of star together. Using 1/4" seam allowance, machine-sew edges together, leaving 2-1/2" opening for turning. Turn right side out. Lightly stuff with fiberfill stuffing. Whipstitch opening closed using needle and white thread. Knot ends.
  • 7. Trim holiday sprig to 3" length using wire cutters. Couch sprig to star using white thread. Knot ends.
  • 8. Adhere gems to star using fabric glue. Let dry.
  • 9. Loop jute twine; hand-sew to back of star using white thread to hang.
  • Tip
  • 1. Substitute stamping with rub-on transfers in holiday sentiments of choice.
