Faux Button Frame

  • Faux Button Frame


  • Recycled cereal box, 4”x6” scrap
  • Polyform Sculpey III Polymer Clay, in colors of choice
  • Recycled AA battery
  • Magnets, four
  • Parchment-lined baking sheet
  • Craft glue


  • Clay-dedicated rolling pin or wooden dowel
  • Oven
  • Toothpick
  • 1. On clean work surface, remove clay from package. To condition, roll clay separately in hands until soft, bending and rolling until pliable. If clay cracks, keep conditioning.
  • 2. Roll 1/4" clay balls from colors of choice. Mix balls together, creating marbleized look.
  • 3. For each "button," roll 1/4" marbleized ball. Use AA battery to make button shape in center of ball. Flatten slightly. Use toothpick to poke four holes in center of buttons.
  • 4. Position buttons on parchment-lined baking sheet. Follow manufacturer's instructions to bake buttons in oven. Let cool completely.
  • 5. Measure and cut 4"x6" rectangle from recycled cereal box. Make copy of photo. Glue photo on rectangle.
  • 6. Glue buttons around photo on rectangle. Let dry. Glue magnets on back of rectangle.

  • 1. Adults, help kids when baking clay in oven.
