  • Polyform Sculpey III Clay: Red, Emerald, Gold, Ballerina, Translucent
  • Krylon Frosted Glass Finish
  • Plaid FolkArt Outdoor Acrylic Colors: Wicker White
  • Black seed beads, six
  • Aleene's Original Tacky Glue


  • Parchment-lined baking sheet
  • Oven
  • Clay-dedicated rolling pin or acrylic brayer
  • Polyform Sculpey Variety Tool Set

Basic Supplies

  • scissors, ruler, paintbrush, newspaper (to cover work surface)
  • 1. Adults, help kids when baking clay in oven.
  • 2. On clean work surface, remove clay from packages. To condition, roll clay separately in hands until soft, bending and rolling until pliable. If clay cracks, keep conditioning.
  • 3. For gingerbread, from Gold, roll: 2" ball (body), 1" ball (head), two 1" logs (arms). Flatten head. Press head on top of body and arms on sides of body.
  • 4. For icing, roll small Translucent balls. Flatten and roll into skinny ropes. Press icing around head, on arms, and mouth.
  • 5. For eyes, roll two tiny Translucent balls. Press eyes on head. Press black seed beads on center of eyes. Use tool to make eyelashes.
  • 6. For nose and cheeks, roll three tiny Ballerina balls. Press nose and cheeks on face. For bow, roll Ballerina and White clays together into log. Wrap log into bow shape; press below neck.
  • 7. For leaves, roll small Emerald balls. Flatten balls into leaf shapes. Use tool to make vein lines. Form leaves into wreath shape.
  • 8. Repeat process to create gingerbread for shakers.
  • 9. Position clay items on parchment-lined baking sheet. Follow manufacturer's instructions to bake clay items in oven. Let cool completely.
  • 10. On covered work surface, apply frost glass finish onto napkin holder and shakers. Let dry.
  • 11. Use Wicker White paint to dot napkin holder and shakers. Glue gingerbread and wreath onto napkin holder and shakers. Let dry.
