  • DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paints: Persimmon, Burnt Orange, Burnt Umber
  • DecoArt Americana: Chalkboard Paint; Glazing Medium; Duraclear Satin Varnish
  • Royal and Langnickel Bordeaux Series 6900f paintbrushes: Flat #6, 8, 10; Round #2, 12
  • Sugarloaf Products See-D’s Forever Love Acrylic Clear Stamp
  • Clay-dedicated rolling pin, parchment-lined baking sheet, and oven
  • Adhesives: Aleene’s Fabric Fusion; hot glue gun and sticks

Basic Supplies

  • scissors, craft knife, nail file or sandpaper, staple gun and staples, paper towel
  • 1. Remove backing from frame. Use #10 flat to apply Chalkboard paint on backing. Apply three coats, letting each coat dry thoroughly. Let set.
  • 2. Roll clay to 1/4" thickness. Position wooden frame face down on clay; use craft knife to cut around outline of frame. Cut out center of frame. Stamp clay frame cut-out using Forever Love clear stamp. Overlap stamped areas for unique effect. Follow manufacturer's instructions to bake clay frame on parchment-lined baking sheet in oven. Let cool. Use nail file or sandpaper to smooth edges.
  • 3. Hot glue clay frame to front of wooden frame. When dry, paint entire clay frame and wooden frame edges Persimmon using #8 flat. Let dry. Use #6 flat to drybrush outer and inner edges of frame Burnt Umber. Let dry.
  • 4. Mix 1:1 mixture Burnt Umber + Glazing Medium and use #2 round and #12 round to coat frame edges and stamped designs. Let glaze set for five minutes. Use #10 flat to remove excess glaze; wipe brush clean on paper towel. Let dry. Use #10 flat to coat entire frame with varnish. Let dry.
  • 5. Insert chalkboard backing into frame. Cut 14" length of jute twine and 5"x7" burlap rectangle. Use Fabric Fusion to adhere burlap rectangle on back of wooden frame. Use staple gun to secure jute twine ends on either side of frame back. Create additional chair plates for other guests.
