Framed Felt Holiday Cards

Materials

  • Frame, 5”x7”
  • Cardstock: bright blue; turquoise; lt. blue; lime green
  • Felt: lt. blue; bright blue; turquoise; white; black; orange; gold
  • Brushed nickel bookplates, 1-3/4”
  • White mini brads, six
  • Black glass E beads, 6/0, 10

Tools

  • Scoring blade
  • Embroidery needle
  • Sewing machine and matching threads
  • Computer and printer or black fine-tip permanent marker

Pattern - Framed Felt Holiday Cards

  • 1. Print and cut out patterns.
  • Snowman Card
  • 1. Cut 7"x10" rectangle from bright blue cardstock. Score and fold rectangle in half to make 5"x7" card.
  • 2. Cut 4-1/2"x6-1/2" rectangle from lt. blue felt; glue to card. Cut snowman and snow shape at bottom of pattern from white felt; glue to card. Machine sew blanket stitch around felt rectangle edges, and straight stitch around snowman and top of snow close to edges.
  • 3. Cut triangle nose from orange felt; glue to card. Machine sew straight stitch around nose close to edges.
  • 4. Hand sew beads to eye and chest dots. Tie ribbon bow; glue to snowman.
  • 5. Use computer to print or handwrite "Joy" on lime green cardstock; trim to oval and glue behind bookplate. Use brads to attach bookplate to upper right area of card.
  • Polar Bear Card
  • 1. Follow same basic instructions as Snowman Card, cutting card from turquoise cardstock, felt rectangle from bright blue, and muzzle circle and bear from white felt. Print "Peace" on lime green cardstock.
  • Penguin Card
  • 1. Follow same basic instructions as Snowman Card, cutting card from lt. blue cardstock, felt rectangle from turquoise, outer body from black felt, and inner body from white felt (along dashed lines). Print "Noel" on lime green cardstock.
