Materials

  • Poster board
  • Duck Tape: Green, Light Green, Gold, Black
  • Plain headband

Basic Supplies

  • scissors, ruler, pen, craft mat
  • 1. For hat top, draw and cut out an arched trapezoid shape from poster board that is 4-1/2" long, 10-1/2" wide at top and 6" wide at bottom. Cover cut poster board with Green Duck Tape. Bring edges of arch together and secure with Green Duck Tape.

  • 2. Using cone from Step 1, trace bigger opening onto piece of poster board. Cut out and cover with Green Duck Tape. Attach covered circle onto cone base using small pieces of Green Duck Tape.

  • 3. To create hat brim, trace smaller opening of cone onto poster board. Mark 2" away from traced circle to make a bigger circle. Cut out outer and inner circle to make donut shape. Cover both sides of donut shape with Green Duck Tape.

  • 4. Attach hat brim to smaller opening of cone using small pieces of tape.

  • 5. Cut 7-1/2" long piece of Black Duck Tape and fold in half lengthwise sticky sides together.

  • 6. For buckle, cut 1-1/2"x1-1/4" rectangle from poster board. Cover with Gold Duck Tape. Cut two 3/4" vertical slits in buckle to weave in band from Step 5 as shown.

  • 7. Wrap band around hat base. Secure ends of band together with Black Duck Tape.

  • 8. Trace clover shape onto folded piece of Light Green Duck Tape and cut out. Attach clover stem behind band of hat using small piece of Duck Tape.

  • 9. Attach headband to hat bottom using strips of Duck Tape.
