Filigree Button Ring

Inspiration comes from unexpected places. This designer used a vintage button from her grandmother's collection as the perfect center for this filigree ring.

Materials

  • Antique brass filigree six-petal lotus flowers: flat petals, 44mm; shaped petals, 35mm
  • Raw brass filigree components: link, 2-1/2”; bead cap, 14mm
  • Vintage glass button, 18x9mm
  • Brass wire, 6” length

Tools

  • Chain-nose pliers
  • Wire cutters
  • Ring mandrel or dowel
  • Jewelry glue
  • Note
  • 1. This ring can be assembled without wire using jewelry glue.
  • Ring
  • 1. Center button on wire. Place button in bead cap; press prongs against button. Press wire ends toward back and insert through shaped flower and flat flower. Cross ends, tighten assembly, and twist wire. Trim and flatten against filigree.
  • 2. Wrap link around dowel or ring mandrel to create ring.
  • 3. Adhere flower assembly to center of link.
  • Tip
  • 1. A bead or cabochon can be substituted for the button.
