Irish Rose Crochet Embroidery Hoop

Here's a creative way to display your crocheted projects — use it as wall decor or turn it into a dream catcher!

  • Wooden embroidery hoop, 10” 
  • Crystal Palace Mini Mochi Spice Market Yarn, one skein 
  • Ribbon, 5/8” wide, 18”

tools

  • Crochet hook size F/5/3.75mm
  • Testors Brown Enamel Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • ICraft SuperTape, ¼” wide

  • Scissors 

Abbreviations

  • Ch = chain
  • Ch sp = chain space
  • Ch - = refers to chain or space previously made
  • Dc = double crochet
  • Hdc = half double crochet
  • Rnd = round
  • Sl St = slip stitch
  • St(s) = stitch(es)
  • FPdc = front post double crochet

*tip: Gauge is not critical for this pattern.

Paint outside and edge of outer ring with brown enamel paint. Paint inside and edge of inner ring with enamel paint. Set aside to dry completely.

Ch 6. Join into ring with sl st in first ch.

Rnd 1: Ch 4, (counts as 1 dc + ch-1), (dc in ring, ch 1) 7 times, join rnd with sl st in 3rd ch of be-ch-4. 8 dc
Rnd 2: Sl st in first ch-1 sp, ch 1, (sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc) in same ch-1 sp, [(sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc) in next ch-1 sp] 7 times, join rnd with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 3: (Ch 2, FPdc around post of next dc of Rnd 1) 8 times, join rnd with sl st in sl st at end of Rnd 2. Make sure ch-2s are resting behind the petals of Rnd 2.
Rnd 4: Sl st in first ch-2 sp, ch 1, (sc, hdc, 5 dc, hdc, sc) in same ch-2 sp, [(sc, hdc, 5 dc, hdc, sc) in next ch-2 sp] 7 times, join rnd with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 5: (Ch 3, FPdc around post of next FPdc) 8 times, join rnd with sl st in sl st at end of Rnd 4.
Rnd 6: Sl st in first ch-3 sp, ch 1, (sc, hdc, 7 dc, hdc, sc) in same ch-3 sp, [(sc, hdc, 7 dc, hdc, sc) in next ch-3 sp] 7 times, join rnd with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 7: (Ch 4, FPdc around post of next FPdc) 8 times, join rnd with sl st in sl st at end of Rnd 6.

Rnd 14: Sl st in each of next 4 ch, ch 1, sc in same ch-8 sp, (ch 9, sc in next ch-8 sp) 15 times, ch 9, join rnd with st st in first sc.
Rnd 15: Sl st in each of next 4 ch, ch 1, sc in same ch-9 sp, (ch 10, sc in next ch-9 sp) 15 times, ch 10, join rnd with sl st in first sc.

Bind off.

assembly

Mark outer edge of inner ring every 2” for a total of 16 marks. Cut 16 pieces of SuperTape approximately 3/8” each. Put tape over each mark on outer edge of inner ring.
Put center of each loop of crocheted piece on one segment of tape to stretch crochet over width of ring. Fit outer ring of embroidery hoop over inner ring and use screw to tighten. Tie bow with ribbon, trim each end into a “v” shape and adhere bow over screw using SuperTape.
