Notes

  • 1. Slip first stitch of every row on all Panels; slip first st on odd numbered rows only on Edging.
  • 2. Keep first and last 3 sts of each Panel and on Edging in Garter st; 2 rows of Garter st = 1 Garter ridge.

Helpful

  • 1. Place markers (pm) between edge sts and lace portion of each panel.
  • 2. To be sure each panel is the same length, count the Garter ridges (edge sts) on center panel; work the same number of Garter ridges on side panels and on side Edging pieces.

Center Panel

  • 1. Using MC, cast on 36 sts.
  • 2. (RS) Begin Lacy Leaves patt; work even until piece measures 60”, or desired length, making note of the number of Garter Ridges worked on edge sts. Bind off all sts loosely.

Side Panels (make 2)

  • 1. Using MC, cast on 42 sts.
  • 2. (RS) Begin Lacy Columns patt; work even until piece measures 60”, or desired length, working same number of Garter Ridges as on center panel. Bind off all sts loosely.

Edging

  • 1. Make 4 pieces - two 60” long, or length of panels; two 36” long for upper and lower ends.
  • 2. Using MC, cast on 13 sts.
  • 3. (RS) Begin Lace Edging; work even to lengths indicated above, working same number of Garter Ridges as on center panel for sides pieces.
  • 4. Bind off all sts loosely.

Finishing

  • 1. Sew panels together, a Side panel each side of Center panel (see photo). Sew Edging pieces to long sides, then across upper and lower ends.
  • 2. Using yarn needle, weave in ends.
  • 3. Block piece to measurements, to open up Lace.
  • 4. Using diagrams and photo as a guide, work Embroidery around all four edges.
